Shelby has been cracking me up lately. Although 2 does have some very challenging characteristics, I love witnessing Shelby's vocabulary, imagination, and creativity grow. Here are a few of my favorite moments from the past week:
-We were on the way home from the store one cloudy afternoon, and Shelby said, "Look, Mommy, a dragon!". I looked up and sure enough, there was a cloud that looked just like a dragon! She talked to it all the way home.
-Yesterday Jeremy and Shelby were wrestling. Shelby reached up and pinched him in a sensitive area on his chest. Without thinking, Jeremy yelled, "Ow, she got my nipple!". So then Shelby lifted up her shirt and repeatedly showed us where hers were. I was hoping she'd forget about it, but she reminded us again today. I do want Shelby to understand names for body parts, but I think 2 might be a little young for that. Way to go, Jeremy. I silently chuckle at it though.
-Apparently this weekend was Harry Potter weekend on TV or something, and for some reason, Shelby loves those movies. I am not the biggest fan, only because I have this weird thing about "dark" movies. Not dark as in the theme of the movie, but dark as in the lighting. I don't know, I'm weird. Anyway, Shelby was making me laugh because she kept calling Harry "Tristan" (my brother). Sorry for the mistaken identity, Tristan. After we explained his name was Harry, she walked up to the TV and kissed him and proclaimed her love for him.
In other random tidbit news, we are on day 3 of full-on potty training. She went diaper-less for the first time on Friday. She only had two accidents- one at home, and the other at Outback. I did have her in a pull-up at Outback, just in case. I took her to the bathroom as soon as we got there. She had a dry diaper, and she went on the potty. Not five minutes later, we were sitting on the bench waiting for our table, and I hear, "Uh-oh", just about the same time I felt a warm liquid on my butt. Awesome. We were about to leave when they buzzed us, so I just sucked it up and hid my wet pants behind my purse. (Shelby's clothes somehow managed to stay dry. How nice for her.) The things I will do for the sake of Outback ranch.
Anyway, she did great yesterday- again, just one accident at home. Today she did REALLY well at church. She kept a dry pull-up the entire time. Of course, I took her to the bathroom A LOT, but still. I think she is finally recognizing how to hold it in.
That's about it for now. No pictures. I do have a bunch of video I need to upload. Another time.

good job Shelby! we're still struggling here with potty training. some days sadie is all about it, and others, she's just not into it at all.
How cute that she notices the pictures in the clouds! I'm impressed!
woohoo!!! way to go. and I also would sit in wet pee for outback!
Ok, you and I need to have a talk about Harry Potter. Whatd'ya mean you don't like the movies? I don't think we can be friends anymore. Just kidding {kinda!} :-)
Way to go Shelby! You and Jordyn need to come over and teach Peyton some tricks. Actually, he'll be working on potty training at school this fall- he probably won't be as quick as you two girls were though. You know boys are icky like that {that's why you shouldn't kiss them- 'cause most of them have cooties you know!}.
I already miss seeing you again Aidan! We live way too far away from you now. I hate it. :-(
