11 Years!

Jeremy and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary on Friday.  When we found out back in April/May that Kings of Leon was playing in Dallas on our anniversary we knew that was how we were going to celebrate.  The concert started out great...Band of Horses opened up and they were really good.  Then Kings of Leon came on and things were...off.  Caleb started complaining right off the bat that his voice was gone and people kept bringing him cold towels to put around his neck.  About 40 minutes into the show he said he had to take a break, but that they'd come back out and finished.  After 20 or so minutes of waiting some of the other band mates came out and said they would not be coming back out.  The whole thing was weird.  Later, Jared tweeted that there were things "other than dehydration" going on.  They also canceled their Houston show the following day.  There is all sorts of speculation now that the band is breaking up, etc.  We did read a statement that the band is coming back September 21 and they will honor our ticket then.  That's a Wednesday, so not sure if that will work out or not.  Who knows?  There might not even be a band by then.  Which would suck.

Despite all that, we did have a good night.  On Saturday we met some friends at Copelands in Southlake for our annual Copelands meal (we ate there on our wedding day, so it's our tradition to go every year specifically for our anniversary).  Arleigh is a living doll.  I wish we lived closer to her so our girls could play together!

Happy 11 years, Jeremy!  I love you!

P.S.  Sorry for all the cell phone pics.  I didn't have a real camera with me all weekend.

Tuesday Night: Done

Such a lame post, but I have to say how much I love our Chick-Fil-A.  Every Tuesday night is family night.  They do different things each week: face painting, coloring, a sundae bar, kids eat free, etc.  It is great.  The staff is the best, too.  They are all so polite and insist on bringing your tray to your table and come around and get you refills and then clean up after you.  What's even better about all this is that Shelby has gymnastics on Tuesday nights right across the street from Chick-Fil-A, so it works out wonderfully.  I never have to think about what we're having for dinner on Tuesday nights.

*No, Chick-Fil-A did not pay me to write this.  However, should a higher-up from the company stumble upon my blog and choose to reward me for my kind compliments, I would not oppose.

And then it hit me...

After all that fun on Friday and Saturday...I woke up Sunday morning feeling something awful.  Something dreadful.  Something words cannot even describe.  I didn't wake up in the middle of the night sick or anything, but as soon as I woke up Sunday morning I ran straight to the bathroom.  I had to keep running to the bathroom every 5 minutes while getting ready for church.  And for some DUMB reason I kept getting ready for church.  I felt bad because I was supposed to teach Shelby's class and I didn't want to have to call someone so last minute.  I thought I could just push through and not think about the nausea and I'd be ok.  W-R-O-N-G.  It took me so long to get ready that we didn't even get to church until 10 minutes before Sacrament meeting was over.  During that 10 minutes I already had to run to the bathroom once and all I wanted to do was find an empty class room and curl up on the floor.  When Sacrament meeting let out I grabbed somone in the hallway, pleaded with her to teach the class, and booked it to the car.  Then I threw up in the car on the way home.  And then it continued until close to midnight that night.  I lost 5 pounds in one day.  So miserable.
Thankfully, Jeremy was a rockstar and watched the girls all day while I was quarantined in our room.  He even made two lasagnas that night- one for us and one for someone at church that I'd signed up to take a meal to.  I don't know how I could have ever survived Sunday without him.  Thank you, Jeremy!  I love you!

Great Weekend

We have had such a great weekend.  Last night we went to some friends' house for a bbq and hung out til like 10 pm.  It is so nice to hang out with other families and just joke around and goof off.  Today we were up bright and early and headed over to another friend's house for a day of playing.  These friends have an amazing house on the lake.  I am in love with their backyard.  Shelby was in heaven, too, as they have their own private little beach area.  We played for a little bit and the kids went out on the paddle boat, and then we all went out on the big boat.  I wasn't sure if Shelby was going to want to actually swim in the lake, but she did and she loved it.  And Joey was loving being on the boat.  She was just smiling the whole time.  I wish I had brought the camera with me on the boat, but I was afraid I'd drop it in the lake.  After boating we headed inside for lunch and then the kids played for another 2 hours.  Joey took an almost three hour nap when we got home.  She was exhausted!  What a fun weekend!

4th of July

Ever since Shelby figured out swimming with floaties we've been doing lots of activities in water.  For the 4th of July we went over to Debbie's house and swam with Seth, Michelle, and Katelyn.  The kids had so much fun in the pool, and afterwards Debbie made a huge, delicious meal for us.

Afterwards, we came home and rested a bit.  Just before bedtime we let the girls go out and do pop pops.  Joey couldn't have cared less about them, but Shelby thought they were fun.

After we put Joey to bed we let Shelby stay up to watch the fireworks from the office upstairs.  It was another night where Shelby told us as she was going to bed, "Today was a great day".

Small Town

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  I love small town parades.  They are the bee's knees.  Today we went to the Oak Point Freedom Fest.  It is so small and cheesy and perfect- aside from the heat.  A good time had by all.
