NINE MONTHS

Well, Shelby is 9 months old today. 9 MONTHS!! I can't believe how old she is getting. It is very sad to me, especially because in the past two weeks it seems she has really become a big girl. She crawls like a pro, pulls up on everything, says "Ma-ma" and "Da-da" (and knows who Dada is-she's not just babbling), waves and says "hi", and is getting her first tooth. She is still in the 95th percentile for height and weight. She is 29.5" and weighs 24 lbs 10 oz.

On another note, I think I need to switch pediatricians. Maybe I was just spoiled by Dr. Collins' staff, but I loved all of them. Shelby didn't cry for shots- in fact, she laughed! The nurses there were so good! I actually like Dr. Clifford herself, but I don't really like the staff. They don't have a whole ton of bedside manner. The nurse at Dr. Collins' office would make giving the shots into a game- acting like she was tickling Shelby, etc., and Shelby loved it. The nurse today was just like, "Ok, hold her down (stick, poke, jab)". Of course, Shelby screamed. Poor girl.

On top of the three shots today, Shelby also had to have a skin test to see if she has been exposed to TB. It is a looooooong story, but to sum it up, I went over to meet my crazy neighbors, and after sitting in their house for almost an hour, my neighbor tells me her live-in boyfriend had Tuberculosis, but not to worry because there were no more germs. WHAT?! Who gets TB? What, are we in Moulin Rouge?! Anyway, I'm sure his is now inactive or whatever, and we were not exposed to it, but I'd rather be sure.

Doing the Bunny Hop

We sure did bunny hop all over Easter weekend. We left Friday and drove to Hattiesburg. We woke up early the next morning to get ready for the annual Gore family reunion. There seemed to be a few people missing this year, but still lots of people there for me to pretend like I know them. We had a good visit with Jeremy's grandparents, and Shelby showed off- waving, crawling, and pulling up on everything.

We left Sunday and drove to Jackson to visit with Jeremy's dad. He had driven down the day before and spent some time with us at the reunion, but we had to get one more quick visit in before we left. After that we drove on up to Bastrop, just outside Monroe.



Again, waking up early in the morning, we got ready and made our way to the nursing home. There we visited Jeremy's other grandparents. They were so happy to see the three of us. We went on a tour of the home and Mamaw showed Shelby off to all her friends.






We then drove the rest of the way back to Dallas and are still trying to get settled back in. It was a hectic weekend, but fun nevertheless. Shelby enjoyed opening her Care Bear from Shawna and her Easter basket from Daddypaw. I think she had a great 1st Easter!

Pictures

Shelby had her Easter/Nine Month pictures taken last Saturday. Well, she was only 8 1/2 months in the pictures, but whatever. My sister recommended the Target portrait studio, as she has had good luck with them before at the one near her. I had no such luck. I wasn't very impressed with the package choices, and I wasn't happy with the photographer or the pictures. Part of the problem is that the photographer was way too pushy, and I am way too passive. Also, Shelby is going to be obsessed with whoever has the camera in their hands. It didn't matter that Jeremy and I were there, jumping around, making faces, etc. So it bugged me that the photographer saw this, and then didn't try anything herself. Most photogs keep a "bag of tricks" nearby, but nope, she just sat there, looking at us like, "Why can't you make your baby smile?". But, we managed to get a few cute ones out of the shoot.

Fort Worth Stockyards

Today we made the short drive to Fort Worth to visit the Stockyards. Why did we go to the Stockyards, you may ask? Well, when we went to the tourist info place, they had a lot of pamphlets about it, so we figured it must be something worth visiting. It is interesting for about 10 minutes. They have lots of "Old West" type things, like saloons and general stores. Also, at the end of every day, they herd the cattle down Main St. It was a fun thing to do just to go and spend time together as a family. And it was such a pretty day. I am liking this less humid weather!

Because I Promised

Stephanie has been on me lately about getting a picture posted of our crazy kitchen. So, here it is. Please excuse the dishes in the sink...they are clean, just not dry. Anyway, who thought this was a good idea?

Snow Day

I thought New Orleans weather was crazy, but Dallas weather has so far proven to be just as unpredictable. Yesterday it was 80 degrees outside. Seriously. We were in shorts and t-shirts. Last night we had some really strong storms blow through and we were under tornado watches all night. Along with the storms came a cold front so it was in the 30s today, followed by this tonight:




Jeremy is like a kid in school, hoping for a snow day. That would be nice, then I could get some work done.
