Happy Birthday, Shelby!

Today my little baby turned two! I cannot believe it! Shelby is such a smart, funny, happy girl. She, like any two year old, has her moments where she likes to test her boundaries and push our limits, but for the most part she is just a joy and keeps us pretty entertained. She is really into Clifford right now (see previous post about her party), and it is so cute to listen to her sing along to the theme song when it comes on. She loves going for walks, swimming, and playing hide-and-go-seek. Her favorite food is hot dogs (at least I get turkey dogs, so they aren't as bad, right?). Shelby talks a lot, and likes to imitate whatever we are doing. She learns so much everyday and sometimes surprises me with these things. I'm looking for a mommy and me gymnastics class to enroll her in now that she has turned two. I think she will really love it. Happy Birthday, Shelby! We love you!

P.S. As we went out for a walk tonight, we heard Shelby saying over and over again, "What's that?! What's that?!". I turned, looked, screamed, and jumped. This was sitting outside our garage:

Jeremy wasn't sure if he should kill it, trap it, or what, so I ran and got the neighbor. Unfotunately for us, he was more scared of it than we were! Jeremy grabbed a big push broom and smacked the mess out of it. Then he pushed it to the street, poured lighter fluid on it, and lit it on fire. Just for good measure.

LOL. He smacked it with a broom, poured lighter fluid on it and THEN lit it on fire. HILARIOUS.
Was it a tarantula? I've never seen one in Texas...are they common?

Yep, it was a tarantula. I don't know if they are common or not- I sure hope not! Our neighbor said he's never seen one. We have had wolf spiders, but that is to be expected since we are in the country. I never thought we'd have a tarantula!

Yikes, that is freaky. I have never seen a tarantula in Texas (maybe someone's lost pet?). I am glad it was outside the house, at least.

I just got chills! Gross!!! I bet it was someone's pet that got loose. At least that is what I would tell myself!

Well, their pet's dead, burnt carcass is in the middle of the street. That's what they get for owning a tarantula! Ugh!

I just screamed and peed in my pants. Thanks.

I can tell you exactly where Jeremy got his reluctance to get close to spiders - having a mother with arachnophobia. And yes that WAS a tarantula - Donald used to have one (made him keep in on the top shelf in the laundry room). It HAD to have been someone's pet that had escaped or let loose (I made Donald take his to the woods in Mississippi - around Wiggins to let his go).
