I really wanted to make the end of summer fun for the girls. I wanted to pack as much fun stuff in as we could. We went swimming, played at the park, went to a Rangers game (Lucy's 1st! And the Rangers killed it!), and played at the beach (at the lake). Last Thursday night was Meet the Teacher. Our plan was to go and then go out to dinner and talk excitedly about Shelby's new teacher and classroom. It is our new tradition. As we got ready to leave I told Jeremy I wasn't feeling well. In the middle of filling out papers at the school, I looked at Jeremy and said, "We need to go NOW." By the time we got home I had a fever of almost 102. The next 24 hours were not fun. Especially since I still had to nurse a baby. By Saturday I was finally feeling better and we had hoped to maybe do something fun, but then Joey got sick. On Monday she seemed to finally be over it, but Tuesday morning there was more throwing up. Then Shelby was sick on Wednesday and Thursday. So we didn't exactly get to end the summer how we wanted to, but sometimes that's just how things go.

Sending Shelby off to first grade was not nearly as emotional for me as Kindergarten was. I knew she would be in good hands and would survive without me. I was excited for her to get back into a routine, reading and learning, and playing with her friends again. Shelby is in Mrs. Turnage's class this year with two of her friends from church and several of her friends from Kindergarten. On the first day I asked if she wanted Jeremy to walk her in to school and she said yes, but once they got close to the school she confidently told Jeremy, "You can just drop me at the front." She has had a great week so far (other than coming home sick), and has woken up each day excited to get to school.
