Halloween

Usually I am so excited to post pictures after holidays, but I'm just not feeling it right now. I have been procrastinating posting Halloween pictures, I think, because things didn't quite turn out how I planned. I have been having an off month. Nothing I have made has turned out how it was supposed to. Crafts, meals, costume ideas, etc. - all epic fails.

For Halloween this year I thought we were going to be super cute- Shelby would be a monkey, Joey would be a banana, and Jeremy and I would be zookeepers. For the ward trunk or treat we were going to decorate the car like a cage at the zoo, with lots of foliage around it. When it came down to it, I ran out of time and didn't get anything needed to decorate the car. I ordered Joey's and Shelby's costumes online, and Joey's ended up being too small. It was one of those bunting style costumes. I bought the 0-6 month size (which was the only size this costume came in) and Joey's legs were completely scrunched in the bottom and the sleeves came to her elbows. I decided to make slits in the bottom and just pull her legs through. She hated it. The only time she didn't mind wearing it was at the trunk or treat when it got pretty chilly.

The week of Halloween I usually try to do "Halloween foods" every night. Well, it seemed like every dinner that week was super rushed, so nothing came out quite as it was supposed to. Mummy dogs were thrown together quickly, macaroni men fell flat, octo-dogs looked, well, not like they were supposed to.

All in all, we had a fun Halloween, just not how I had intended it to be. So, Shelby and Joey, when you read this in the future, please know that I tried!

Good Lord woman! Cut yourself some slack. I never did stuff like that when my kids were growing up....just never found the time (plus I don't have a creative gene in me). You did way above and beyond most moms. I think when Joey and Shelby see this when they are older, they will be quite impressed.
