Suzie Homemaker

I FINALLY bought a bread machine. I have wanted one for a LONG time, but for some reason just never bought one. I made my first loaf last night. I also made freezer jam. I had never heard of freezer jam before, but I read Lexi's blog, and got a craving for some homemade jam. When I went down the aisle looking for the mason jars, I saw the actual freezer jam pectin and the freezer jam plastic mason jars. It was so easy! Why had I never heard of this freezer jam before?!

I love homemade bread. It reminds me of growing up. It is just so much better then store bought bread.

Let me just say that I am so envious that you have a bread machine now! Troy said he might get me one for Mother's Day but then I told him it wouldn't be a surprise- so he told me that I have to hurry up and forget ;-)

If your bread ever comes out a little dense, just buy a loaf pan and prepare your dough in the bread machine then transfer it in the pan to cook in the oven. I always wondered why when I used my Mom's bread machine and cooked it in the machine at her house why it didn't turn out like Jeni's bread and she told me that trick.

Good for you for making freezer jam! How did you like it? I've almost used up one jar it is so tasty. Jeni and I used the recipe for less sugar and it is still sweet and good. I was looking in the Better Homes cookbook and they haev other jams to try out. I am so excited!

This post reminds me of my Mamaw's freezer strawberry jam.

I like it best when she puts it in old margarine tubs. They blend in with the leftovers. Fewer people try to steal it then!

I love my bread machine. I just use it to prepare the dough and then bake it in the oven. Your picture makes me want to make a loaf:)
